Today is Earth Day, when we celebrate the preservation of our planet, those who fight to ensure clean air, water, and land for future generations, and resolve for the work ahead. Our environment is our legacy to our descendants. If we do not live in our environment in a responsible manner, protect our world’s natural beauty and ecosystems, and deal decisively with the threats to our very well-being, we will have failed them.

We salute all those who interact with the environment in a responsible manner: the companies who realize that responsible corporate citizenship means doing what is right, not just what the regulations require; the families, who make conscious decisions to minimize their footprint on their surroundings; each person who decides not to grab that straw or who decides to throw that can in the recycle bin. Thank you all. This is not only our country, but also our planet, and each separate act of conservation adds up to ensuring our children and our grandchildren have a healthy and vibrant world to experience in the future.
